shuffling through memories

Shuffle your itunes and then list the first 5 songs and a memory you have with each of them. DO IT.

found this on someone's formspring and thought it was a cool idea for a short and sweet blog, so here we go.

(my music taste varies slightly..so if you don't appreciate rap or particularly like foul language, you should probably not click on the links to certain songs...)

1. Gucci Maine ft. Yo Gotti - Work Ya Wrist
I used to play this in Dane's Land Rover on the way to school last semester when my car was being fixed. I would drop him off at work, lounge around until 1pm when I had class. He had a system in his car (which was recently stolen out of his car, while it was parked AT our house! RUDE.) and it was on a CD I had just made. The system only made it sound better...it got me pumped up for "working" like all gangsta rap does.

2. Give In To Me - Garrett Hedlund and Leighton Meester
I just recently saw the movie Country Strong. I loved Gwyneth Paltrow in all of her appearances on the show Glee, so when Dane's sister had it on redbox, I watched it. It was pretty good, not really what I thought it was about but, I never even knew who Leighton Meester was. Or that she had an amazing voice. I actually prefer her to Sara Evans singing I get a little bit stronger. So this duet with Garrett Hedlund from the Country Strong soundtrack is just perfection, love it.

3. Welcome Back - Young Jeezy
This reminds me of when I lived on Bryan Ave. when I first moved to Wilmington. I had just graduated high school, taken a trip to Paris, and moved out of my dads house and into a house with 3 girls I didn't even know. I was in a tad bit of a rebellious phase...but it was probably one of the most fun times in my life. Good memories...

4. Shut Up and Let me go! - The Ting Tings
I'm pretty sure the first time I heard this, I was in Paris at Camille's sister's flat. She had an amazing home and while making us dinner this was one of the songs that came on her shuffle and ever since then I've loved it. Especially because it takes me back to a time of pure happiness!

5.Collie Man - Slightly Stoopid
So in love with this song in high school. My junior year I think. We were obsessed with Slightly Stoopid and I lost two ipods, so I barely have any of their music on my new one. Guess I need to start searching for long lost songs!!

Just Wednesday

It's been raining here the past two days and today the sun finally came out from behind the clouds!

I took Slade for a afternoon walk after his lunch, which consisted of Apple Banana Strawberry baby food and milk. He loves being outside- you'd never guess he was mine. I really hate being outside. I'm not the hiking type (just ask my dad), I complain quite a lot when I'm forced into outdoor activities. Since Slade was born I've had to get over my hatred. He absolutely LOVES to be outside- and that makes me happy. I'm not trying to raise a little video game nerd or a kid who sits inside all day and watches TV, so I am very glad we could spend some time outside.

We also went and hung out with my friend Erica so we finally got to get out of this house! I was beginning to go stir crazy, he he.

I've currently been cooking up several good blog ideas in my brain while being stuck in the house. I wrote them all down and I plan of perfecting them before I put them in writing, so while you're waiting (obviously on the edge of your seat...) here's the proof of the bordem we endured yesterday!

Slade gives kisses now!

weight(not so)loss update

Awhile back someone on formspring said they'd like to hear more on my blog about my weight loss journey and see pictures of my "cute little house". I was kind of dreading those two topics though.

One, because my house is usually clean; with hundreds of toys strewn around.
Two, because my I have been at the same weight since my last "weight loss journey" post. Which I deleted because I looked quite grotesque in the pictures and on a whim I deleted the whole thing. I wanted to start fresh.

So while my invisible maid cleans up, and I go on a walk to try and shed more of the 10 lbs I need to lose; I want to know -- what else would you want me to do posts on more often?

who's that chick?

I guess it's kind of a known fact that my husband surfs. (I mean, it's in the info under his picture)

His dad used to push him on waves when he was little and he just became really good at it.

He even used to do contests, and I'm sure he wishes he'd stuck with the contests because he might of actually gone somewhere with his surfing, other than doing it just for pleasure. Even so, He's still really fun to watch (when NC gets an occasional swell...which is never. unless it's hurricaine season) Let's just say I've seen many a surf sesh, seen plenty of DVDs of the pro's, and I've actually even tried it a few times...and failed. It's complicated to get your balance, not to mention terrifying to feel the force of the wave behind you. I'm not really into dangerous situations..

Well he's probably going to call me a barney* for posting this...
The other day I ran across an article on Bethany Hamilton, a pro who lost her arm in a shark attack.
You may have heard of her, they just made a movie about her called Soul Surfer.
The girl she was surfing with during the attack (Alana Blanchard) was also being interviewed and they brought up a video she had posted on her blog, so I watched it.

the point of this whole spiel is:

the Rhianna song being played is my favorite song right now!
If you're having a bad day, I'm pretty sure this can cure it.
and hey, even if I just did a blog about my random thought process, at least I got to squeeze in some really cute pictures of Dane as a little boy!
THAT IS ALL.
:D

time flying by

Slade turned 1/2 a year old yesterday!

He is still eating every two hours, taking 3 naps and is almost sleeping through the night.
He laughs at animal sounds, especially "woof woof" and anyone making funny faces.
He smiles at the sight of his da da walking in the front door after work everyday.
He is the most precious, perfect, little chunky thing I've ever seen.
I love him more and more everyday!!!

I haven't written a post in what feels like months, although it hasn't been that long! The older Slade gets, the less time I have to myself. Yesterday was a special day but uneventful. I tried to plan something fun to do today despite the 90 degree weather. Slade's already grabbing at any and everything he can get a hold of, and I got a glimpse into my future today. While my friend and neighbor Morgan was visiting, her 17 month old Alaina was running around getting into everything. I mean, she was climbing chairs, grabbing cats, slamming a baby monitor onto my brand new heart pine living room table...she was a mess but I loved it because she was so much fun! After playing some at our local park, we grabbed some frozen yogurt at the Fuzzy Peach! Yum!

Tomorrow I'm attending my second "Stroller Strides" class. If your a parent to a child 4 and under you should check it out, I don't know if they actually have an age limit but I feel like anyone over 4 wouldn't participate very well. You can find your local LUNA moms group, Stroller Strides, and other classes here. I'm pretty stoked, although after the last class I couldn't walk very well for a few days! Guess I'm out of shape! I am taking Morgan and Alaina with me tomorrow too so it should be extra fun!

tedious thursday

This week has been cloudy, rainy...and we've been super bored.

Slade is growing like a weed though and Monday he will be 6 months old! He's entered a new stage: clingyness, and is showing me he has a real temper. He now gets mad if you take a toy (or other object) away and cries if he's being put down. He doesn't like to be left alone at all...I am lucky I'm getting a chance to let my creative juices flow right now (thank you Baby Einstein!!). I think it's a teensie bit of seperation anxiety which is funny, because I never leave his side!!!

I haven't been keeping up with my daily photos OR my style guide and I promise I am going to start doing better...I've been trying to think of a better setup for the style guide and I usually have to email pictures from my phone, so new ones will be coming soon!!!

In the meantime, will you please give me some feedback on what you'd like to hear more about & see on my blog? Thank you!! Any opinions are welcome!

Please send feedback either to my facebook, or formspring

Gracias & guess what?!
Tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!!

Slade's very first July 4th!!!

Yesterday was the day after my moms birthday AND my newest little love, Paxton's birthday! Which means...

It was July 4th!

And not just any July 4th...

Slade's very FIRST July 4th!!!

Rewind to July 4, 2010:

Last July 4th was horrible. I was about 11 weeks pregnant, feeling sick, emotional, hot, and grouchy. My sister and her husband, Todd were in town visiting me in my third floor, tiny apartment that I shared with someone I hadn't even been friends with since 9th grade. It was burning hot and all the tourists were blocking the roads and storming our beaches (as usual around this time of year). Dane wanted to go to Masonboro and I did too, but it's not really the place for a pregnant girl. We ended up getting in a huge fight about it. After calling one of my friends (who was clearly under the influence) to vent and see what she was up to, I found out she was at Masonboro too and I was crushed. None of my friends cared about me anymore! I cried a lot that day, and I can honestly say it was the worst day I had during my entire pregnancy.

Fast forward to a year later:

I wanted to experience Masonboro with my friends. Dane wasn't up for it since he's been a bunch of times. Not only that, but we have a 5 month old and it's not really that easy to just drop your child off with people and go spend the entire day drinking and raging. Dane said I could go without him (how sweet!) but I didn't want to go if he wasn't. I finally came to terms that it would have to be experienced another year.

Instead we spend the day out by his dads backyard pool, grilling out and spending the day relaxing. I'm glad we spend it like that! Slade even went swimming underwater which he was not a fan of. We also took Slade downtown on the river to see the fireworks and he absolutely loved them! He didn't cry once. It was probably one of the best days I've had since Slade was born :) Below is a video of Slade's very first fireworks!!! Enjoy!
